Abstract

The newly found manuscript — Cod. Athous Panteleemon. gr. 283 — viewing from its content can be named the “Slavonic Collection”, as for the inclusion into the book by its author and copyist Jacob Neaskytiotes unknown hitherto translations of Russian medieval hagiographical and liturgical texts, as well as other materials on Russian, Serbian, Bulgarian history of Athos. The Codex includes such texts, as “Akolouthia (Service) for Antony Pechersky”, his “Life”, “Church Service for Theodosios of the Caves (Pechersky)”, “The Life of Methrophanes of Voronezh” and others. The book is dated from July 1848. The methodics of paleographic and codicological analysis allow to trace the history of the book. Textological methods lead to the conclusion of Russian origin of the texts, that became important points on the way of creation of the fundamental corps of “Athonias” by Jacob Neaskytiotes.
