Abstract
Mythologization of the past at all times was inherent in any society. In the early modern era, the historical myth turned into an organic, integral part of the political culture of Britain. The article deals with the role of historical myth in political culture. Historical myth reflected political ideal of governors, rings, and heroes. And also it was basis of political conceptions in revolutionary times. Such problems as interpretations the birth of parliament, ancient constitution, conquest in formation the political conceptions of Tories and Whigs rose in 18th century.
