Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of the ideological origins of the “left turn” in Brazil, of the formation of the concept of socialism in the ideology of the Brazilian left in the 1980s — 1990s. Despite the fact that the Workers’ Party, who was at the forefront of the struggle for social change in that period, is now going through hard times, the ideological search of its intellectual and political leadership at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s is an important page in the history of the entire leftist movement of Latin America.
