Abstract
The article deals with the problem of the sources of British history in the 18th century. The correspondence became important means of communication in the 18th century, thanks to the facts that work the Post office and widespread of literacy. Also that was by widespread of business activity, extension colonial possessions, wars in Europe, in which Britain took parts. There were official, business, and private correspondences. Collections of letters — invaluable sources for investigation problems of political, business, intellectual, colonial and private history of Britain.
