Abstract
This article is devoted to the history of the Orenburg region in the first half of the 19th century. It is told about the establishment of the Orenburg military governorship and the Orenburg Boundary Commission, the activity of the governors (N. N. Bakhmetev, G. S. Volkonsky, P. K. Essen, V. A. Obruchev) is analyzed, and the role of the outstanding statesman V. A. Perovsky in the history of the Orenburg region is described. It is told about the creation of the Orenburg and Samara governor-general. The article contains questions for the actualization of knowledge in the all-Russian context; section “Saved Time”, dedicated to the brightest preserved sights of this period; reference materials and the section “Working with documents”.
