Abstract
In this material the history of the Crimea in the period of the Great Patriotic War is considered. Based on the latest researches and new historical sources the main events of history of the peninsula from 1941 to 1944 are shown. Combats and the main operations of the German-Romanian troops and Red army in the fall 1941 — summer of 1942 (defense of the Crimea, defense of Sevastopol, the Kerch and Feodosiya landing operation and defeat of the Crimean front) are analysed. The period of Nazi occupation of the Crimea and its main manifestations is considered: everyday life of the population, collaboration, terror, partisan and underground movement. It is claimed that fight of the population in the rear and fighting of Red army promoted at the front that the Crimean offensive operation in April—May, 1944 has come to the end with fast and full defeat of troops of Nazi Germany and its allies.
