Abstract
In the second half of the 7th century, Khazars appeared in the Black Sea Region, but until first half on 8th century Crimea remained under Byzantine Empires control. However, in the 80 of 8th century Khazars had already threatened Byzantine Domains on peninsula. Clash between Khazars and local population (John of Gothias rebellion) took place in Gothia between 784 and 786. After suppressing the revolt, Khazars was able to conquer a large part of Byzantine`s territories. At the beginning of 9th century, they had been begging lose control over the peninsula and by the end of century Khazars were expelled. By the second half of the 10th century, Byzantine regain its position in Crimea.
