The article is devoted to the first monarch of the Tudor dynasty, and contains the description of the person of Henry, made his contemporaries (Polydor Virgil, Pedro de Ayala), and historians (F. Ch. Dietz, A. Goodman). In the article the analysis of the state of the financial system at the time of the accession of Henry Tudor to the throne, shows the continuity of its financial policy and also revealed new features of the tax system. We also consider the economic theories gained currency in Henry’s times.
