Abstract
The section deals with the ethnic and ethno-political history of the Southern Urals during the Early Middle Ages. The author studies the changes in the ethnic map of the region caused by the events of the Era of Great Migration: the settlement of Sarmatian tribes, the arrival of ancient Slavs and early Bulgars on the Volga-Kamje, the migration of ancient Urges, the formation of the historical and geographical region of “Ancient Hungary or Magna Hungaria” in the Urals, the arrival of the nomadic Turkic tribes the Oguz and Pechenegs, the settlement of ancient Bashkirs on the territory of Modern Bashkortostan.
