Abstract
Having analyzed the goals of the German command in the spring-summer campaign of 1942, the author shows the onset of the German and allied troops in the south of Russia in 1942, the causes and the psychological effect of the order № 227 “Not one step back”. The article also shows the voltage and the heroic struggle of the Soviet troops and citizens on the outskirts and in the Stalingrad. Attention is paid to the preparation and carrying out of encirclement and destruction of the fascist German troops at Stalingrad, Hitler shows attempt to unblock the German 6th Field Army. At the end of the article summarized and shown internationally important battle of Stalingrad.
