Abstract
The article deals with the question of the political background of the storming of Berlin, as well as the development of the Berlin operation command of the Red Army and Allied plans for the capture of Berlin. The main attention is paid to the storming of Berlin by Soviet troops, the military results of operations. Also the article touches upon the signing of acts of capitulation in Reims and Karlskhost. The author explains why the Victory Day was celebrated at the USSR on May 9 and why the Allies celebrate V-E Day on May, 8.
