Abstract
The article deals with the stages, methods and results of religious policy of James II Stuart. The aim of the article is to determine the character and direction of religious reforms of that king. Author makes an attempt of comparison analysis of crown’s policy in different kingdoms of Stuart’s monarchy. The author proves that the main purpose of James II was universal religious toleration to all his subject and was not Counterreformation.
