Abstract
The article examines the concepts of British identity in Michael Drayton’s poem «Poly-Olbion». Drayton represents the continuity of authority over Britain, uniting Britons, Saxons, Danes and Normans in a German line of descent. The author of the poem expresses nostalgia about the British past and is quite skeptical about contemporary Stuart British project.
