Abstract
Russian texts, addresses to kids upbringing, are analyzed from the point of recommendations in them to use birches in the process of kids teaching. They are “Domostroi”, “Book of Degrees”, Abecedaries, works of Semeon Polotzki, School Azbukovniki, Alfavitar’, etc. It is shown, that in all of them (except Book of Degrees) authors used texts from the Old Testament about child’s strict punishments. This writing does not reflect any real life situations, but, probably, could have some influence on the child upbringing.
