Abstract
The article is based on a new statistical data concerning the priests consecrated in Russia in 1906–1912. The author tries to find out if the clergy was still an estate in the early 20th century. The archival materials led the author to the conclusion that the estate paradigm was still actual for the priests of central, northern and north-western dioceses of the European part of Russia and for Novorossia. Almost a half of all the priesthood of the Russian Empire served in these regions. An opposite tendency was characteristic for the Ukrainian and Siberian dioceses.
