Abstract
Debates about the past between national historiographies are tendentious because, in the first place, national historiographies are shaped by the biased nature of political history, and secondly, these debates unfold within the domain of classic, rather than non-classic, historiography. The author argues for the need to set up such a perspective that will, on the one hand, allow to pursue an academic interpretation of the politics of the past, and on the other hand, reveal the sociocultural/historical contexts of its biased nature to achieve a historical and cultural interpretation of the public and political discourse.
Keywords
new political history, images of the past, national historiographies, classic historiography, politics of memory, public historical discourse.
