Abstract
This article studies the issue whether the term 'modern early period' is applicable to the history of Latin America. It raises a point on the possibility of correlation between national, regional and universal historical periodization systems through the example of Latin America with a special reference to Brazil. Author also tries to consider if there is a possibility to apply the civilization theory methods to the colonial period of Latin American history. The synthesis of various formations generated the interaction between civilizations which led to the emergence of the unique Latin Ameican civilization.
