Abstract
Main spheres of cooperation between European Union and Central Asia in a context of EU’s Strategy of New Partnership (2007-2013) are analyzed in the article. The author examines unique phenomenon, when pragmatic interests of political and trade-economic nature play an important role in relations between two different and big regional spaces as European Union and Central Asia. “Partner” level of relations with its versatility becomes possible due to geographical closeness of two regions and more intensive interregional cooperation. Conditions of world competition in Central Asia and new threats of globalization, which are equally complex for EU and Central Asia, intensify dynamics of these processes. Perspectives of interregional relations are shown from a viewpoint of Kazakhstan’s strategic role in Central Asia, which assists in realization of various EU’s programs and initiatives in the country.
