Abstract
The article deals with one of the most interesting periods of colonial history of New Spain, since the reforms of «enlightened absolutism». The author shows a direct link reform the Spanish Bourbons in the Spanish colonies to the ideas of economists and advocates of mercantilism. Outdated colonial system has limited the development not only of the colonies, but also damages the economy of the metropolis. Attempts to reform the economic system and political system of the colonies were designed not only to address grievances in the colonies and to strengthen control the city, but the relationship and bring the metropolis-colony to a new level.
