Abstract
The article by professor O.A.Rzheshevskiy takes up the question of diplomatic policy of the USSR on the eve of the Great Patriotic War. The liquidation of the threat of conducting two-front war was its main result. The author, restoring the chronology, underlines especially defensive (for the USSR) value of the nonaggression pact from August, 23rd, 1939. It was a necessary step due to the diplomatic capitulation of Great Britain and France at the negotiations with Hitler and Mussolini a year before. Thereby the historical justice restores, to which the resolution of OSCE from July, 3rd, 2009 contradicts.
