The main thematic part of this issue is based on the materials of the All-Russian scientific conference “Problems of the History of Africa and Russian-African Relations”, which was held at the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Sciences on December 8—9, 2021 and was timed to the 50th anniversary of the Center for African Studies. The articles presented in the issue are devoted to various aspects of the development of African countries in the context of transnational and global history. The wide participation of research teams from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Yaroslavl, Kazan made it possible to highlight the most relevant trends in African studies, as well as to analyze the work of the center over the past half century against the background of global trends in the development of Western historiography. Anothet part contain articles devoted to Russian-African relations and prepared on the material of new, previously unknown sources, including declassified archival documents.
