A group of papers discusses Byzantine colonies in the Crimea (N. A. Alekseenko, I. E. Ermolova, N. I. Khrapunov). The connections with the Orient are discussed by T. M. Kalinina and I. G. Konovalova. The volume also includes two reviews and the information about the 30th conference in memory of Vladimir Pashuto.
