Alexander Chubaryan on the Establishing of the Online Archives of Scientific Materials

The State Academic University for the Humanities (GAUGN) has begun to establish online archives of scientific materials in the areas of “International Relations and Historical and Philological Sciences” and “Social Sciences” (arxiv.gaugn.ru). The project is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation under the federal program “Research and Development in Priority Areas of the Scientific and Technological Complex of Russia for 2014—2020”.

The president of GAUGN, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Oganovich Chubaryan considers the creation of online archives of scientific materials an extremely important and promising task. In his opinion, establishing of the archives can not only allow preserving the scientific achievements of the Russian science, but also become an important help for conducting new scientific research:

“As a historian, I am personally familiar with the difficulty of finding the necessary information for research. Scientists can spend quite a long time trying to find it in the printed archives, which can be spent on research on their projects. I would also like to emphasize the relevance of creating archives for young people: the availability of the necessary information online will allow you to study sources anywhere in the world, which will have a beneficial effect on educational and scientific processes”.
